• FOR CONSISTENCY across a project that calls for several batches of epoxy that's thickened to the same degree, you can create your own epoxy/filler "recipe." Carefully measure the amount of filler you add to the first epoxy batch until it reaches the viscosity you need, keeping track of the total amount you've added. Mix the same amounts of resin, hardener, and filler for the remaining batches so they all have the same viscosity.
• THIS STRONG WOOD_TONED epoxy filler is added to epoxy for making epoxy joints and fillets on naturally finished wood. It mixes easily with epoxy to helps you create smooth fillets that will need only a little sanding. Can be blended with other WEST SYSTEM Fillers to modify the shade of your epoxy mix. You can blend it into any WEST SYSTEM 105 Resin/20X Hardener combination, G/flex Epoxy 650, or G/5 Five-Minute Adhesive. Blended with epoxy, it will cure to a consistent brown color.
• YOU DON'T NEED perfectly fitting joints when you use epoxy thickened with 405 Filleting Blend. Compared to traditional joinery methods, fillets can also save you the expense, weight, and labor of adding screws or other fasteners—without sacrificing joint strength.
• FOR MAXIMUM STRENGTH add only enough filler to completely bridge gaps between surfaces without sagging or running out of the joint or gap. A small amount should squeeze out of the joints when clamped. For thick mixtures, don’t fill the mixing cup more than 1/3 full of epoxy before adding filler.
• The quantity of filler determines the viscosity of epoxy. There is no specific formula, rather rely on your visual judgment to determine the best consistency for the task. The following table provides guidance on the variances between neat epoxy and three common textures of thickened epoxy: "catsup," "mayonnaise," and "peanut butter."
